Lachapelle nets hat trick, leads North Kawartha to 7-4 win over Georgina

Christian Lachapelle netted a hat trick to lead the North Kawartha Knights over the Georgina Ice, 7-4.

Lachapelle notched his first tally 4:14 into the second period. He then added goals at 8:38 into the third and at 14:26 into the third.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 6:21 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts.

North Kawartha forced Georgina's netminders to work all game long, ripping 35 shots and forcing 28 saves. Brandon Klerer made 20 stops and Lennon Gowan made eight. The Knights surpassed their usual scoring output this season. North Kawartha averages 2.4 goals per game.

North Kawartha additionally got points from Russell Fontyn, who also registered one goal and four assists and Mitch Stewart, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for North Kawartha included Cole Robbins and Eddy Whitmore, who scored one goal each. In addition, North Kawartha received assists from Jacob Phillips, Braden Frise, Cameron Medland, Jesse Douglas, and Regan Kennedy, who each chipped in one.

The Ice were often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game Georgina had been spending in the box. The Ice's offense rang up 34 shots on the Knights' net.

Georgina was led by Nathan Sinclair, who finished with two goals and one assist. Sinclair scored the first of his two goals at 2:57 into the second period to make the score 3-2 North Kawartha. Dan Foster provided the assist. Sinclair's next tally made the score 4-3 North Kawartha with 14:56 left in the second period. The Ice had gained a power play chance when Stewart was whistled for tripping. Ryan Kernohan assisted on the tally. Georgina also had goals scored by McKenzie Gray and Derek Risebrough APM, who each put in one. More assists for Georgina came via Bradley Evans, who had two and Wes McGann, Mark Gavrilov, and Brandon Basler, who contributed one each.

James Hack made 30 saves for North Kawartha on 34 shots. The Knights totaled 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For North Kawartha, Jacob Tracey and Whitmore were ejected from the contest. Georgina registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Team's Evans and Foster were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
