Uxbridge outlasts Lakefield, 4-2Uxbridge Arena Fri, Jan 30, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Uxbridge Bruins escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Lakefield Chiefs. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Todd Winder's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Connor Evans had one goal and two assists to lead Uxbridge. Evans scored 14:27 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Uxbridge. The Bruins' offense rang up 36 shots on Lakefield's net. Uxbridge had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 10 chances. The Bruins could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game. Others who scored for Uxbridge included Marco Mastrangelo and Ryan Miehm, who each put in one. In addition, Uxbridge received assists from Adam Bartholomew, Daryl Thomson, and Tyson Eastgate, who each chipped in one. The Chiefs could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Lakefield averages 4.6 goals per game. The Chiefs forced Uxbridge goalie Brandon Francey to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Lakefield's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Chiefs finished with 50 penalty minutes. Lakefield was helped by Nick Hildebrand, who had one goal. Hildebrand scored 17:56 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Lakefield. Travis Brault picked up the assist. Lakefield also got a goal from Josh Duggan as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Jesse Gregory, Keenan Runnalls, and Eric Oosting, who contributed one each. Francey recorded 29 saves for the Bruins. Uxbridge ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jarett Smith was ejected from the game. Zach Wainman made 32 saves for the Chiefs on 36 shots. Lakefield registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
