Port Perry downs North Kawartha, 6-1

Stevie Sampson racked up one point to lead the Port Perry Mojacks to a 6-1 victory over the North Kawartha Knights.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 15:35 into the second period. Six fighting penalties were dished out along with five game misconducts.

North Kawartha was unable to stop Port Perry from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mojacks eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Port Perry had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 11 chances.

Port Perry additionally got points from Ryan Nichols, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Matthew Doucette, who also had one goal and one assist, and Graham Lamers, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Port Perry also had goals scored by Cole Murray and Evan Wasylyk, who each put in one. More assists for Port Perry came via Lucas Berkers, who had two and Kyle Powell and Ryan Bernardes, who each chipped in one.

The Knights forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and three majors for 53 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game North Kawartha had been spending in the box.

The Knights were led by Kaleb Marshman, who scored the team's only goal. Marshman scored 7:30 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jacob Tracey picked up the assist.

The Mojacks' Jeff Julien stopped 23 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Port Perry ended with 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors. For the Mojacks, Owen Bateman and Wasylyk were ejected from the contest. James Hack rejected 36 shots on goal for North Kawartha. The Knights registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Team's Jacob Phillips, Alex Gonyou, Matt Douglas, and Christian Lachapelle were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
