Uxbridge survives penalties, beats Port Perry, 7-3Scugog Memorial Arena Sun, Jan 18, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Uxbridge Bruins' penalty kill was superb, as Uxbridge survived multiple penalties to beat the Port Perry Mojacks, 7-3. The Bruins forced Mojacks' goaltenders to work without much rest, launching 32 shots and forcing 25 saves. Blake Shaw made 10 stops and Jeff Julien made 15. Uxbridge excelled on the penalty kill, only allowing Port Perry to get one power play goal on 11 chances. The Bruins surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Uxbridge averages 4.0 goals per game. The Bruins were helped by Tyson Eastgate, who registered one goal. Eastgate scored short handed 7:23 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Uxbridge. Uxbridge was on a disadvantage when Adam Bartholomew went off the ice for roughing. Thomas Sheedy provided the assist. Uxbridge also got points from Todd Winder, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Uxbridge also had goals scored by Jason Simmonds, Korey Brand, Aiden Reilly, Marco Mastrangelo, and Patrick Bolahood, who scored one goal each. More assists for Uxbridge came via Dylan Locke, Daryl Thomson, and Shane Smith, who contributed one each and Michael Spataro and Carter Vahey, who each chipped in two. The Mojacks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 17 Uxbridge power plays. Port Perry's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Mojacks finished with 80 penalty minutes. Port Perry was led by Lucas Clark, who finished with two goals. Clark scored the first of his two goals short handed at 18:41 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Mojacks found themselves down a man on Ryan Bernardes's tripping. Clark's next tally short handed made the score 7-3 Uxbridge with 33 seconds left in the third period. Port Perry played down a man on Kyle Schweda's inciting an opponent. Kyle Powell picked up the assist. Graham Lamers also scored for Port Perry. In addition, Port Perry received assists from Ryan Nichols, Eric MacDonald, and Andrew Crichton, who contributed one each. Brandon Francey rejected 20 shots on goal for the Bruins. Uxbridge incurred 52 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
