Brault's big game bests Little Britain in 6-3 Lakefield win

Travis Brault had two goals and two assists to lead the Lakefield Chiefs to a 6-3 victory over the Little Britain Merchants.

Brault found the back of the net 15:58 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Lakefield and again while 17:59 into the first to make the score 4-2 Lakefield.

Lakefield forced Merchants' netminders to work without much rest, taking 36 shots and forcing 30 saves. Adam Harris made 14 stops and Garrett Haden made 16.

Lakefield also got points from Patrick Young, who also registered three goals and one assist. Nick Julian also scored for Lakefield. In addition, Lakefield received assists from Eric Oosting, who had three and Jordan MacLean and Connor Blair, who each chipped in one.

Little Britain was helped by Mason Patterson, who tallied one goal. Patterson scored 12:57 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Hayden Long picked up the assist. Others who scored for Little Britain included Aidan Renouf and Mackenzie Smith, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Little Britain were Jesse Craig, Brady Martin, Jesse Beers, and Brett Doble, who contributed one each.

The Chiefs' Zach Wainman stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Lakefield totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For the Chiefs, Ryan Anderson was ejected from the game. The Merchants totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Little Britain ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nathan Hughes was ejected from the game.
