Huge game by Sargeant boosts Lakefield over North Kawartha, 7-3

Joe Sargeant was all over the ice for the Lakefield Chiefs, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Lakefield's 7-3 win over the North Kawartha Knights.

Sargeant's tallies came at 11:20 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Lakefield and 19:38 into the third to make the score 7-3 Lakefield.

The Chiefs' penalty kill excelled, as Lakefield gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

The Chiefs stifled North Kawartha's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Knights were unable to stop Lakefield from sending pucks towards the net, and the Chiefs eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Lakefield bested its season scoring average. The Chiefs have scored at the pace of 4.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Lakefield additionally got points from Patrick Young, who also had two goals and one assist, Jesse Gregory, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Travis Brault, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Ryan Anderson also scored for Lakefield. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Josh Duggan, who had one, Jayd Killingbeck, who had two, and Eric Oosting, who had three.

North Kawartha stifled Lakefield's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Knights were helped by Christian Lachapelle, who registered one goal. Lachapelle scored 13:05 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Lakefield. Braden Frise provided the assist. Others who scored for North Kawartha included Matt Douglas and Jacob Tracey, who each put in one. More assists for North Kawartha came via Zack Pearson, who had one.

Jonathan Thain recorded 17 saves for the Chiefs. Lakefield incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. North Kawartha's James Hack stopped 26 shots out of the 33 that he faced. The Knights incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
