Eastgate leads Uxbridge over North Kawartha, 8-2

Behind a great game by Tyson Eastgate, who had two goals and one assist, the Uxbridge Bruins defeated the North Kawartha Knights, 8-2.

Eastgate found the back of the net on the power play 7:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Uxbridge and again while 5:36 into the second to make the score 3-1 Uxbridge.

Uxbridge's penalty kill excelled, as the Bruins gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Uxbridge forced Knights' goaltenders to work all game long, ripping 37 shots and forcing 29 saves. James Hack made 25 stops and Liam Murray made four. The Bruins stifled North Kawartha's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Uxbridge surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Bruins average 3.9 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Uxbridge also got points from Carter Vahey, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Adam Bartholomew, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Robert Freckleton, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Connor Evans, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Uxbridge included Patrick Bolahood and Alex Williamson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Uxbridge received assists from Jarett Smith, who had three, Daryl Thomson and Alex Siblock, who contributed one each, and Aiden Reilly and Marco Mastrangelo, who each chipped in two.

The Knights were helped by Christian Lachapelle, who finished with one goal. Lachapelle scored 8:22 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Matt Douglas assisted on the tally. North Kawartha also got a goal from Cameron Medland as well. Other players who recorded assists for North Kawartha were Jacob Tracey, who had one.

Uxbridge's starting goalie, Brandon Francey, made 14 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Jake Joosten, who stopped four shots. The Bruins incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. North Kawartha incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
