Early goals doom Georgina, falls to Clarington, 16-0

The Clarington Eagles jumped out to a five-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Georgina Ice, 16-0.

Mackenzie Morissette had two goals and three assists to lead Clarington. Morissette scored the first of his two goals at 25 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Clarington. Jake Carter assisted on the tally. Morissette's next tally made the score 2-0 Clarington with 16:36 left in the first period. Jarod Hollister picked up the assist.

The Eagles forced Ice's netminders to work all game long, launching 55 shots and forcing 39 saves. Vincenzo DElia made 27 stops and Lennon Gowan made 12. Clarington's goal total was higher than its season average. The Eagles average 4.2 goals per game. Clarington was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with four goals.

Clarington also got points from Mitchell Marchbank, who also had two goals and two assists, Brad Down, who also registered one goal and one assist, Brent Hambly, who also racked up one goal and three assists, Hollister, who also registered two goals and one assist, Cody Kean, who also grabbed three goals and one assist, Ryan Smith, who also had two goals and one assist, Colin Weston, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Brodie Myers, who also registered one goal and two assists. Justin Holiad also scored for Clarington. More assists for Clarington came via Dylan Howorko, who had one, Blane Gaudon, who had two, and Darby Medd, who had three.

Georgina was held below its usual level of production. The Ice average 2.6 goals per game.

Tyler Caruana made 21 saves for the Eagles on 21 shots. Clarington incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Georgina incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
