Port Perry uses big second period to beat Georgina, 8-3

The Georgina Ice was within striking distance after one period, but the Port Perry Mojacks put the pedal down in the second en route to an 8-3 victory.

Ryan Nichols had four goals to lead Port Perry to victory. Nichols' first goal came 18:28 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:43 into the second, at 18:05 into the second, and at 9:03 into the third.

The Mojacks forced Ice's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 41 shots and forcing 33 saves. Brandon Klerer made 28 stops and Vincenzo DElia made five. Port Perry outdid its season average for goals scored. The Mojacks average 4.2 goals per game.

Port Perry additionally got points from Ryan Bernardes, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Graham Lamers, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Konrad Piorkowski, who also had one goal and two assists. Jeff St. Pierre also scored for Port Perry. More assists for Port Perry came via Cole Murray, Todd McNair, Kyle Schweda, Eric MacDonald, Andrew Crichton, and Owen Bateman, who each chipped in one.

Georgina was helped by Bradley Evans, who tallied one goal. Evans scored 49 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgina. Derek Risebrough APM assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Georgina included Wes McGann and Justin Wain, who each put in one. In addition, Georgina received assists from Ryan Kernohan, Mark Gavrilov, and Matt McIntyre APM, who contributed one each.

Jeff Julien made 23 saves for Port Perry on 26 shots. The Mojacks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Ice incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
