The Clarington Eagles tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the North Kawartha Knights held on for a 5-3 victory. A goal by Russell Fontyn put North Kawartha up 5-2 in the third period, but Clarington pulled to within two on Brent Hambly's tally 19:46 into the third period. Fontyn had two goals and two assists to lead the Knights. Fontyn scored the first of his two goals at 9:17 into the first period to make the score 2-0 North Kawartha. Jesse Douglas provided the assist. Fontyn's next tally made the score 5-2 North Kawartha with 43 seconds left in the third period. North Kawartha put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Eagles to score on any of their four power plays. Clarington was unable to stop the Knights from sending pucks towards the net, and North Kawartha eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. The Knights bested their season scoring average. This season, North Kawartha averages 2.3 goals per contest. North Kawartha additionally got points from Eddy Whitmore, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for North Kawartha included Jacob Phillips and Cameron Medland, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for North Kawartha were Zack Pearson and Christian Lachapelle, who contributed one each. The Eagles managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for 12 minutes in penalty time. Clarington finished below its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. The Eagles' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four North Kawartha power plays. Clarington's offense rang up 40 shots on the Knights' net. The Eagles were led by Brodie Myers, who had one goal and one assist. Myers scored 9:32 into the second period to make the score 3-1 North Kawartha. Cody Kean picked up the assist. Clarington also got a goal from Ryan Smith as well. In addition, Clarington received assists from Mitchell Marchbank, Brad Down, and Dylan Howorko, who each chipped in one. James Hack recorded 37 saves for North Kawartha. The Knights incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Connor Visca made 29 saves for Clarington on 33 shots.
