Georgina rides Klerer to victory over North Kawartha, 2-1Georgina Ice Palace Fri, Dec 19, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Brandon Klerer helped the Georgina Ice defeat the North Kawartha Knights, 2-1. Georgina was led by Ryan Kernohan, who had one goal. Kernohan scored 11:28 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Georgina. Mark Gavrilov provided the assist. The Ice managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Georgina wound up below its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. Bradley Evans also scored for Georgina. More assists for Georgina came via Brandon Hughes and Justin Wain, who contributed one each. North Kawartha forced Ice's goalies to work between the pipes, launching 37 shots and forcing 36 saves. Klerer made 35 stops and Lennon Gowan made one. The Knights excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. North Kawartha was led by Cole Robbins, who scored the team's only goal. Robbins scored 7:28 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Jesse Douglas assisted on the tally. James Hack rejected 23 shots on goal for the Knights. North Kawartha incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
