Piorkowski's hat trick boosts Port Perry over Lakefield, 3-1Scugog Memorial Arena Sun, Dec 14, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Lakefield Chiefs could not stop the Port Perry Mojacks' Konrad Piorkowski, who tallied a hat trick in a 3-1 win. Piorkowski got on the scoresheet 16:02 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:03 into the third and at 1:42 into the third.Port Perry's Blake Shaw was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 27 saves and let only one puck past him. Shaw managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.63 prior to the game. The Mojacks stifled Lakefield's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Other players who recorded assists for Port Perry were Kyle Schweda, Graham Lamers, and Owen Bateman, who contributed one each. The Chiefs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Port Perry to score on any of its nine power plays. Lakefield was held below its usual level of production. The Chiefs put an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game. Lakefield's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Chiefs finished with 40 penalty minutes. Lakefield was led by Nick Julian, who scored the team's only goal. Julian scored 1:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakefield. Frank Sullivan assisted on the tally. The Mojacks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Chiefs' Zach Wainman stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Lakefield registered zero goals on five power play opportunities.
