Lakefield downs North Kawartha, 7-2

Connor Blair registered two points to lead the Lakefield Chiefs to a 7-2 victory over the North Kawartha Knights.

Lakefield's offense rang up 45 shots on North Kawartha's net. The Chiefs bested their season scoring average. Lakefield has scored at the pace of 4.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Lakefield also got points from Jesse Gregory, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Nick Hildebrand, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Travis Brault, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Lakefield included Hunter Hotrum, Eric Oosting, and Aaron Vatcher, who each put in one. More assists for Lakefield came via Patrick Young, Dalton Hill, Jayd Killingbeck, Joe Sargeant, Skylor Andrus, and Ryan Anderson, who contributed one each.

The Knights were helped by Eddy Whitmore, who registered one goal. Whitmore scored on the power play 5:33 into the second period to make the score 2-2. North Kawartha earned a power play opportunity when Hill was put in the box for tripping. Russell Fontyn assisted on the tally. North Kawartha also got a goal from Jacob Tracey as well. In addition, North Kawartha received assists from Braden Frise and Ryan Miehm, who each chipped in one.

Jonathan Thain recorded 19 saves for the Chiefs. Lakefield incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Chiefs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Zach Wainman was ejected from the game. The Knights' James Hack stopped 38 shots out of the 44 that he faced. North Kawartha incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
