The Clarington Eagles opened up a four-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 9-1 win over the North Kawartha Knights. Clarington got the win behind a great game by Cody Kean, who had two goals and one assist. Kean scored the first of his two goals at 6:06 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Clarington. Brodie Myers provided the assist. Kean's next tally made the score 4-0 Clarington with 1:28 left in the first period. North Kawartha's seven penalties came back to haunt it, as the Knights let up four goals while on the penalty kill. The Eagles forced North Kawartha's goalies to work without much rest, ripping 39 shots and forcing 30 saves. Liam Murray made 10 stops and James Hack made 20. Clarington bested its season scoring average. This season, the Eagles average 4.0 goals per contest. Clarington's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Clarington additionally got points from Mitchell Marchbank, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Jake Carter, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Brad Down, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Blane Gaudon, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Myers, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Clarington also got a goal from Dylan Howorko as well. In addition, Clarington received assists from Mackenzie Morissette, who had one and Brent Hambly and Jarod Hollister, who each chipped in two. Max Tjin made 16 saves for the Eagles on 17 shots. Clarington incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Knights totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. North Kawartha ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mitch Stewart was ejected from the game.
