Uxbridge stifles North Kawartha's comeback, gains 4-2 victory

The North Kawartha Knights almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Uxbridge Bruins managed to pull out a 4-2 win in the end.

Uxbridge led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Bruins' Marco Mastrangelo scored on the power play at 19:52 in the second period to put Uxbridge up 3-0.

The Bruins forced North Kawartha goalie James Hack to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots. Uxbridge could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Bruins were helped by Tyson Eastgate, who finished with one goal. Eastgate scored 8:07 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Uxbridge. Mastrangelo assisted on the tally. Uxbridge additionally got points from Alex Siblock, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Mastrangelo, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Shane Smith also scored for Uxbridge. More assists for Uxbridge came via Carter Vahey, Jordan Nesbitt, Alex Williamson, and Connor Evans, who contributed one each.

The Knights could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game.

North Kawartha was helped by Regan Kennedy, who racked up one goal. Kennedy scored 17:48 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Uxbridge. Russell Fontyn picked up the assist. North Kawartha also got a goal from Cameron Medland as well. In addition, North Kawartha received assists from Alex Gonyou and Braden Frise, who each chipped in one.

Jake Joosten made 19 saves for Uxbridge on 21 shots. The Bruins registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Hack rejected 50 shots on goal for the Knights. North Kawartha registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
