Uxbridge penalty kill dominates in 6-1 defeat of Georgina

The Uxbridge Bruins' penalty kill was superb, as Uxbridge survived multiple penalties to beat the Georgina Ice, 6-1.

The Bruins were sparked by Tyson Eastgate, who finished with one goal. Eastgate scored 5:32 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Uxbridge. Marco Mastrangelo picked up the assist.

Uxbridge forced Georgina's goaltenders to work without much rest, racking up 37 shots and forcing 31 saves. Lennon Gowan made 22 stops and Vincenzo DElia made nine. The Bruins struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 24 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays.

Uxbridge additionally got points from Mastrangelo, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Jordan Nesbitt, who also registered one goal and one assist. Uxbridge also had goals scored by Robert Freckleton, Daryl Thomson, and Shane Smith, who scored one goal each. In addition, Uxbridge received assists from Dylan Locke, who had two and Carter Vahey, Alex Siblock, Alex Williamson, Jarett Smith, and Connor Evans, who each chipped in one.

The Ice's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Georgina finished with 26 penalty minutes.

The Ice were led by Brandon Basler, who scored the team's only goal. Basler scored on the power play 14:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgina. Brett Thomson assisted on the tally.

Jake Joosten made 22 saves for Uxbridge on 23 shots. The Bruins registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
