Port Perry squeaks by Little Britain, 3-2

The Port Perry Mojacks and the Little Britain Merchants were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Port Perry made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Kyle Schweda's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Mojacks were sparked by Schweda, who racked up one goal. Schweda scored 15:41 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Port Perry. Matthew Doucette picked up the assist.

Port Perry excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Little Britain was unable to stop the Mojacks from sending pucks towards the net, and Port Perry eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Port Perry also had goals scored by Ryan Bernardes and Evan Wasylyk, who each put in one. In addition, Port Perry received assists from Ryan Nichols and Konrad Piorkowski, who each chipped in one.

The Merchants stifled the Mojacks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Little Britain was held below its usual level of production. The Merchants put an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game.

Little Britain was helped by Jesse Beers, who had one goal. Beers scored 3:19 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Riley Jenkins provided the assist. Hayden Long also scored for Little Britain. Other players who recorded assists for Little Britain were Brady Martin, Brett Doble, and Matt VanKessel, who contributed one each.

Jeff Julien made 26 saves for Port Perry on 28 shots. The Mojacks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Merchants' Garrett Haden stopped 30 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Little Britain incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
