DElia leads Georgina to shutout victory over North Kawartha

Vincenzo DElia made 29 saves to complete the shutout and led the Georgina Ice to a 5-0 win against the North Kawartha Knights.

Georgina got the win with help from a great game by Brett Theissen, who had one goal and two assists. Theissen scored 9:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgina. Matt McIntyre APM picked up the assist.

The Ice's penalty kill excelled, as Georgina gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Ice stifled North Kawartha's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Georgina kept the Knights' goalie busy throughout the game, and Liam Murray made 31 saves on 36 shots. The Ice surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Georgina averages 2.8 goals per game.

Georgina additionally got points from McIntyre APM, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Cameron McSween, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Georgina included Bradley Evans and JP Contento, who scored one goal each. More assists for Georgina came via Mark Gavrilov, who had two and Bradley Boudreau, Dan Foster, and Brandon Basler, who each chipped in one.

North Kawartha's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Georgina power plays. The Knights' offense operated below their season average. North Kawartha puts an average of 2.4 pucks into the net per game.

The Ice incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Knights incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
