Huge game by Eastgate boosts Uxbridge over Clarington, 5-1

The Uxbridge Bruins' Tyson Eastgate had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-1 win over the Clarington Eagles.

Eastgate scored at 4:30 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Uxbridge and again while 17:41 into the second to make the score 3-0 Uxbridge.

Clarington was stymied by Uxbridge's netminder Brandon Francey, who stopped 36 shots during the victory. Francey managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.6 prior to the game.

The Bruins' penalty kill excelled, as Uxbridge gave up one goal despite allowing 16 power plays.

The Bruins were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 42 penalty minutes.

Uxbridge additionally got points from Connor Evans, who also had one goal and one assist. Uxbridge also had goals scored by Marco Mastrangelo and Todd Winder, who each put in one. In addition, Uxbridge received assists from Carter Vahey, Dylan Locke, Alex Williamson, and Matt Pollard, who contributed one each.

The Eagles did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Clarington puts an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game. The Eagles' offense rang up 37 shots on Uxbridge's net. Clarington could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Eagles were led by Brodie Myers, who scored the team's only goal. Myers scored on the power play 11:38 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Uxbridge. Clarington had gotten the advantage when the Bruins' Aiden Reilly was sent off for interference. Brad Down provided the assist.

Uxbridge registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. Tyler Caruana made 24 saves for the Eagles on 29 shots.
