Little Britain survives North Kawartha comeback, wins 5-3

The Little Britain Merchants survived a determined comeback attempt by the North Kawartha Knights on the way to a 5-3 win.

Little Britain made the score 5-2 on a goal by Mackenzie Smith at 4:30 in the third period, and North Kawartha got as close as 5-3 when Braden Frise scored 9:35 into the third period.

The Merchants were led by Riley Jenkins, who grabbed one goal. Jenkins scored 18:12 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Little Britain. Brad Ward assisted on the tally.

Little Britain's offense rang up 40 shots on the Knights' net. The Merchants were held back by their power play unit, which tallied two goals on 12 chances.

Little Britain additionally got points from Kurtis Moore, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Ward, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Little Britain also got a goal from Hayden Long as well. Other players who recorded assists for Little Britain were Brant Foster, who had one and Terry Snoddon, who had two.

North Kawartha kept Little Britain's goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Harris made 29 saves on 32 shots. The Knights could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

North Kawartha was helped by Jacob Tracey, who had one goal and one assist. Tracey scored 48 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 North Kawartha. Regan Kennedy picked up the assist. North Kawartha also got points from Russell Fontyn, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, North Kawartha received assists from Ryan Miehm, Cameron Medland, and Christian Lachapelle, who contributed one each.

The Merchants incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. James Hack made 35 saves for the Knights on 40 shots. North Kawartha registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
