The Lakefield Chiefs' Patrick Young scored 4:55 into overtime to beat the Georgina Ice, 4-3 (OT). Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 15:05 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. Lakefield forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and four majors for 58 minutes in penalty time. The Chiefs surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. Lakefield kept Georgina's goalie busy throughout the game, and Lennon Gowan made 40 saves on 44 shots. Lakefield also got a goal from Aaron Vatcher as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Nick Hildebrand, who had two and Josh Duggan, Jordan MacLean, William Sullivan, Connor Blair, and Travis Brault, who each chipped in one. The Ice's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and three majors for 51 minutes in penalty time. Georgina had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Ice excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Chiefs were unable to stop Georgina from sending pucks towards the net, and the Ice eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Georgina was led by Bradley Evans, who registered two goals. Evans scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:22 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Georgina. The Ice earned a power play opportunity when Young was put in the box for failure to go to bench. Brandon Basler provided the assist. Evans' next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Georgina with 8:11 left in the third period. A fighting penalty on Dalton Hill had put Georgina on the power play. Brett Theissen picked up the assist. JP Contento also scored for Georgina. More assists for Georgina came via Justin Wain, who had two. Kevin Collins recorded 32 saves for Lakefield. Team's Hunter Hotrum, Hill, Keenan Runnalls, and Frank Sullivan were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Ice registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. For Georgina, Brett Thomson, Jake Martin, and Dan Foster were ejected from the contest.
