Port Perry vanquishes Uxbridge in shootout, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Uxbridge Arena    Fri, Nov 14, 2014

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Port Perry Mojacks defeated the Uxbridge Bruins in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The two teams needed five turns to complete the shootout.

Port Perry came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Mojacks trailed 2-0 after a goal by Uxbridge's Todd Winder at 9:30 in the second period. Port Perry knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Graham Lamers at 9:33 in the third period.

Lamers had a great game for the Mojacks, netting two goals.

Port Perry stifled the Bruins' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Uxbridge was unable to stop the Mojacks from sending pucks towards the net, and Port Perry eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

More assists for Port Perry came via Kyle Powell, who had two and Liam Schweda and Lucas Clark, who contributed one each.

The Bruins excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. Uxbridge forced the Mojacks goalie Blake Shaw to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Bruins' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Uxbridge finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Marco Mastrangelo also scored for Uxbridge. In addition, Uxbridge received assists from Shane Smith, Jordan Nesbitt, Patrick Bolahood, and Jarett Smith, who each chipped in one.

Shaw recorded 30 saves for Port Perry. The Mojacks incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brandon Francey made 34 saves for the Bruins on 36 shots. Uxbridge registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. For the Bruins, Tyson Eastgate was ejected from the game.
