Joosten stymies North Kawartha, Uxbridge wins 2-1North Kawartha CC Sat, Nov 08, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Jake Joosten helped the Uxbridge Bruins defeat the North Kawartha Knights, 2-1. Uxbridge pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 32 penalty minutes. The Bruins were paced by Daryl Thomson, who had one goal. Thomson scored 19:45 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Uxbridge. Connor Evans assisted on the tally. Uxbridge's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six North Kawartha power plays. Uxbridge also got a goal from Marco Mastrangelo as well. More assists for Uxbridge came via Korey Brand, who had one. North Kawartha excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Knights were led by Russell Fontyn, who scored the team's only goal. Fontyn scored 5:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North Kawartha. Christian Lachapelle picked up the assist. Joosten rejected 27 shots on goal for the Bruins. James Hack took the loss and made 22 saves before being replaced by Brenton McKenzie Crowe who made three saves. North Kawartha incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
