Little Britain's comeback falls short, Port Perry wins 7-5

The Little Britain Merchants almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Port Perry Mojacks managed to pull out a 7-5 win in the end.

Port Perry led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Mojacks' Stevie Sampson scored at 11:39 in the third period to put Port Perry up 6-3.

Cole Murray was all over the ice for the Mojacks, as he had two goals in the win. Murray found the back of the net on the power play 13:36 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Port Perry and again while 16:19 into the second to make the score 4-2 Port Perry.

Port Perry's offense rang up 41 shots on Little Britain's net. The Mojacks' goal total was higher than their season average. Port Perry averages 4.4 goals per game. The Mojacks found themselves short handed often, totaling 36 penalty minutes and allowing nine power plays.

Port Perry additionally got points from Kyle Powell, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Ryan Bernardes, who also registered one goal and one assist. Port Perry also had goals scored by Lucas Berkers and Graham Lamers, who scored one goal each. More assists for Port Perry came via Andrew Crichton and Liam Schweda, who contributed one each and Alex Carnevale and Jeff St. Pierre, who each chipped in two.

The Merchants forced Port Perry goalie Blake Shaw to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Little Britain's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Merchants finished with 42 penalty minutes.

Little Britain was helped by Brett Doble, who racked up one goal. Doble scored on the power play 16:10 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Port Perry. The Merchants had taken the advantage when the Mojacks' Matthew Doucette got sent off for boarding. Hayden Long picked up the assist. Little Britain also got points from Brady Martin, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Little Britain included Aidan Renouf, Mackenzie Smith, and Brad Ward, who each put in one. In addition, Little Britain received assists from Mitchell Brown, who had two and Curtis Lee and Brant Foster, who contributed one each.

Blake Shaw made 27 saves for Port Perry on 32 shots. The Mojacks registered three goals on 10 power play opportunities. Port Perry ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Lucas Clark was ejected from the game. Little Britain's Garrett Haden stopped 34 shots out of the 40 that he faced.
