Riley Campbell scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Lakefield Chiefs held off the challenges of the Uxbridge Bruins in a tough 3-1 win.

Campbell provided Lakefield with the game-winning tally when he scored 1:54 into the first period. Keenan Runnalls assisted on the tally.

Uxbridge was stymied by the Chiefs' netminder Zach Wainman, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. Even though Wainman played well, his goals against average suffered, as his one goal against exceeded his season average of 1.0.

Lakefield was sparked by Patrick Young, who grabbed one goal. Young scored 7:44 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Lakefield. Travis Brault picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 13:22 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Chiefs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bruins to score on any of their five power plays. Lakefield forced Uxbridge goalie Brandon Francey to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Lakefield also got points from William Sullivan, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Campbell, who also had one goal and one assist.

The Bruins were held below their usual level of production. Uxbridge averages 3.7 goals per game.

The Bruins were led by Marco Mastrangelo, who scored the team's only goal. Mastrangelo scored 12:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lakefield. Jarett Smith provided the assist.

The Chiefs totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Lakefield ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nick Julian was ejected from the game. Brandon Francey made 29 saves for Uxbridge on 31 shots. The Bruins ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For Uxbridge, Tyson Eastgate was ejected from the game.
