The Lakefield Chiefs were firing on all cylinders against the North Kawartha Knights, and when the final buzzer sounded Chiefs emerged with a 7-2 win. Lakefield was led by Travis Brault, who racked up one goal. Brault scored 2:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lakefield. Jayd Killingbeck picked up the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 10:36 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Chiefs forced North Kawartha's netminders to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots and forcing 29 saves. James Hack made 19 stops and Brenton McKenzie Crowe made 10. Lakefield outdid its season average for goals scored. The Chiefs average 4.5 goals per game. Lakefield was held back by its power play unit, which tallied one goal on nine chances. Lakefield also got points from Patrick Young, who also registered one goal and one assist, Dayton Kent, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points, and Eric Oosting, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Lakefield also had goals scored by Jesse Gregory and Aaron Vatcher, who scored one goal each. More assists for Lakefield came via Josh Duggan, Hunter Hotrum, Riley Campbell, and Nick Hildebrand, who each chipped in one. The Knights' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. North Kawartha surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game. Kevin Collins recorded 17 saves for the Chiefs. Lakefield ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For the Chiefs, Dalton Hill was ejected from the game. The Knights registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. North Kawartha ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Eddy Whitmore was ejected from the game.
