Port Perry's comeback falls short, Lakefield wins 5-3

The Lakefield Chiefs, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Port Perry Mojacks and clinched a 5-3 victory.

Lakefield led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Chiefs' Travis Brault scored at 19:45 in the third period to put Lakefield up 6-3.

Hunter Hotrum was all over the ice for the Chiefs, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Hotrum scored 9:25 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Lakefield. Riley Campbell picked up the assist.

Lakefield excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Port Perry was unable to stop the Chiefs from sending pucks towards the net, and Lakefield eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Lakefield also got points from Patrick Young, who also registered two goals and one assist. Lakefield also had goals scored by Dayton Kent and Eric Oosting, who scored one goal each. In addition, Lakefield received assists from Connor Blair, who had one and Jesse Gregory, who had two.

The Mojacks were helped by Lucas Clark, who had one goal. Clark scored 16:21 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Port Perry. Graham Lamers assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Port Perry included Cole Murray and Konrad Piorkowski, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Port Perry were Liam Schweda, who had one.

The Chiefs' Jonathan Thain stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Lakefield totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play. The Chiefs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dalton Hill was ejected from the game. Jeff Julien recorded 29 saves for Port Perry. The Mojacks incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
