The game between the Lakefield Chiefs and the Little Britain Merchants was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Lakefield emerged with a 3-2 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Eric Oosting's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Oosting had a great game for the Chiefs, netting two goals.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:50 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Lakefield racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Chiefs surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. Lakefield excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Chiefs kept Little Britain's goalie busy throughout the game, and Garrett Haden made 30 saves on 33 shots.

Lakefield additionally got points from Travis Brault, who also had one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Connor Blair, who had two.

The Merchants' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Lakefield power plays. Little Britain was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time.

The Merchants were helped by Jesse Beers, who tallied one goal. Beers scored 11:18 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lakefield. Terry Snoddon picked up the assist. Little Britain also got points from Snoddon, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Little Britain came via Aidan Renouf, who had one.

Jonathan Thain recorded 23 saves for Lakefield. For the Chiefs, Josh Duggan was ejected from the game. Little Britain ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nathan Hughes was ejected from the game.
