Lakefield uses shootout to best Uxbridge, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Lakefield Chiefs defeated the Uxbridge Bruins in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for 18 attempts between the teams.

Lakefield came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Chiefs fell behind 3-2 after a power play goal by Uxbridge's Dylan Locke at 4:26 in the third period. Lakefield knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Jesse Gregory at 12:08 in the third period.

The Chiefs were helped by Aaron Vatcher, who racked up one goal. Vatcher scored 7:27 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Lakefield. Nick Hildebrand provided the assist. Lakefield also got a goal from Ian Cummings as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Patrick Young and Dayton Kent, who each chipped in one.

The Bruins were helped by Connor Evans, who had one goal. Evans scored on the power play 17:26 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Uxbridge earned a power play opportunity when Hunter Hotrum was put in the box for tripping. Daryl Thomson picked up the assist. Jarett Smith also scored for Uxbridge. More assists for Uxbridge came via Jordan Nesbitt, who had two and Carter Vahey, Korey Brand, and Shane Smith, who contributed one each.

Kevin Collins rejected 25 shots on goal for Lakefield. The Chiefs incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brandon Francey recorded 24 saves for the Bruins. Uxbridge incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
