Wain nets hat trick, leads Georgina to 7-4 win over Uxbridge

Justin Wain lifted the Georgina Ice to a 7-4 victory with a hat trick against the Uxbridge Bruins.

Wain notched his first tally 6:51 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:09 into the second and at 5:20 into the third.

Georgina's penalty kill excelled, as the Ice gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Georgina stifled Uxbridge's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Ice outdid their season average for goals scored. Georgina averages 2.9 goals per game.

Georgina additionally got points from Brandon Basler, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Brett Theissen, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Georgina also got a goal from Bradley Boudreau as well. In addition, Georgina received assists from McKenzie Gray, who had two and Wes McGann, Bradley Evans, and Cameron McSween, who each chipped in one.

The Ice were unable to stop the Bruins from sending pucks towards the net, and Uxbridge eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Bruins found themselves short handed often, totaling 23 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays.

Uxbridge was led by Jarett Smith, who registered one goal and two assists. Smith scored 10:44 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Uxbridge. Korey Brand provided the assist. Uxbridge also got points from Marco Mastrangelo, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Uxbridge included Daryl Thomson and Jordan Nesbitt, who scored one goal each. More assists for Uxbridge came via Dylan Locke, Jason Simmonds, and Matt Pollard, who contributed one each.

Ethan Slimkowich made 31 saves for Georgina on 35 shots. The Ice incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jake Joosten rejected 16 shots on goal for the Bruins. Team's Carter Vahey and Alex Siblock were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
