Clarington beats Little Britain 7-4 as Carter gets hat trick

A hat trick by Jake Carter was the highlight in Eagles' 7-4 win against the Little Britain Merchants.

Carter got on the scoresheet 14:32 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:36 into the first and at 12:37 into the second.

The Clarington Eagles forced Little Britain's goalies to work between the pipes, launching 39 shots and forcing 32 saves. Adam Harris made 19 stops and Garrett Haden made 13. Clarington outdid its season average for goals scored. The Eagles average 4.2 goals per game. Clarington struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Merchants to score three power play goals on five chances.

Clarington additionally got points from Jarod Hollister, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Brodie Myers, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Clarington included Braden Gray and Jim Allen, who scored one goal each. In addition, Clarington received assists from Brad Down, who had two and Mitchell Marchbank, Austin Collins, and Mackenzie Morissette, who each chipped in one.

Little Britain was helped by Brad Ward, who racked up one goal. Ward scored on the power play 5:27 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Merchants had taken the advantage when the Eagles' Cody Kean got sent off for high sticking. Brett Doble assisted on the tally. Little Britain also got a goal from Kurtis Moore as well. More assists for Little Britain came via Mitchell Brown, who had two and Terry Snoddon and Riley Jenkins, who contributed one each.

Max Tjin rejected 26 shots on goal for Clarington. The Eagles incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Little Britain incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
