Lakefield beats Georgina 7-3 as Hill gets hat trick

Dalton Hill lifted the Lakefield Chiefs to a 7-3 victory with a hat trick against the Georgina Ice.

Hill notched his first tally 8:58 into the second period. He then added goals at 17:21 into the second and at 10:14 into the third.

Lakefield's penalty kill excelled, as the Chiefs gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Lakefield forced Georgina's goalies to work without much rest, taking 32 shots and forcing 25 saves. Ethan Slimkowich made 25 stops and Vincenzo DElia made zero. The Chiefs stifled the Ice's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Lakefield's goal total was higher than its season average. The Chiefs average 4.0 goals per game. Lakefield was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 26 penalty minutes.

Lakefield also got points from Jayd Killingbeck, who also registered one goal and one assist. Lakefield also had goals scored by Josh Duggan, Riley Campbell, and Nick Hildebrand, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Lakefield were Keenan Runnalls, who had one, Eric Oosting, who had two, Connor Blair, who had three, and Patrick Young, who had four.

Georgina could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Ice were helped by Bradley Evans, who had two goals. Evans scored the first of his two goals at 3:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgina. McKenzie Gray provided the assist. Evans' next tally made the score 2-1 Georgina with 6:07 left in the first period. Bradley Boudreau assisted on the tally. Georgina also got a goal from Derek Risebrough as well. In addition, Georgina received assists from Cameron McSween, who had one.

Jonathan Thain made 27 saves for the Chiefs on 30 shots. Lakefield registered three goals on nine power play opportunities.
