Schweda's goals lift Port Perry to 4-1 victory over Georgina

The Port Perry Mojacks relied on the scoring touch of Kyle Schweda, who netted two goals, to beat the Georgina Ice, 4-1.

Schweda scored at 12:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Perry and again while short handed 28 seconds into the second to make the score 2-0 Port Perry.

Port Perry's penalty kill excelled, as the Mojacks gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

Port Perry's offense rang up 32 shots on Georgina's net. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. The Mojacks' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Port Perry finished with 26 penalty minutes.

Port Perry also had goals scored by Lucas Berkers and Cody Gibson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Port Perry received assists from Ryan Nichols, McNair Todd, and Kyle Powell, who each chipped in one and Matthew Doucette and Konrad Piorkowski, who contributed two each.

The Ice's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Port Perry power plays.

Georgina was led by Bradley Evans, who scored the team's only goal. Evans scored on the power play 8:52 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Perry. The Ice had taken the advantage when the Mojacks' Owen Bateman got sent off for interference. McKenzie Gray provided the assist.

Port Perry's Jeff Julien stopped 19 shots out of the 20 that he faced. The Mojacks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Powell was ejected from the game. Vincenzo DElia made 28 saves for Georgina on 32 shots. The Ice incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
