Burlington uses big games from Jeffers and Choma to down Georgetown, 6-3

Behind two goals from Jack Jeffers and one goal Mike Choma, the Burlington Cougars downed the Georgetown Raiders 6-3.

Jeffers scored the first of his two goals at 5:57 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Georgetown. Ben Scheel provided the assist. Jeffers' next tally made the score 5-3 Burlington with 6:10 left in the third period. Daniel Volpe picked up the assist. Choma scored 6:35 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Burlington. Jacob Ovens assisted on the tally.

Burlington surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Cougars have scored at the pace of 2.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Burlington also got points from Ovens, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Volpe, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Burlington also got a goal from Liam Buckley as well. More assists for Burlington came via Matt Holmes, who had two and James Thorpe, Spencer Herbst, and Jeff Schrattner, who each chipped in one.

Georgetown's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Burlington power plays. The Raiders forced Burlington goalie Andrew Lee to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Georgetown's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. The Raiders average 2.2 goals allowed per game.

Georgetown was led by John Adams, who tallied two goals. Adams scored the first of his two goals at 1:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown. Brendan Jacome picked up the assist. Adams' next tally made the score 2-0 Georgetown with 18:19 left in the first period. Josh Dickinson provided the assist. Anthony Marra also scored for Georgetown. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Jake Clements and Steve Hladin, who contributed one each.

Andrew Lee made 30 saves for the Cougars on 33 shots. Burlington incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jack LaFontaine rejected 15 shots on goal for the Raiders. Georgetown incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. For the Raiders, Francois Cote was ejected from the game.
