Aurora rips Pickering, 5-2

The Pickering Panthers had trouble finding ways to stop the Aurora Tigers, which beat Panthers, 5-2.

Aurora forced Pickering's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 32 shots and forcing 27 saves. Eric Pitcher made 24 stops and Austin Washkurak made three. The Tigers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Aurora was helped by Eric Williams, who registered one goal. Williams scored on the power play 3:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aurora. A tripping penalty on Blake Coffey had put the Tigers on the power play. Noah Delmas assisted on the tally. Aurora additionally got points from Johnny Curran, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Cameron Morrison, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Aurora also had goals scored by Keaton Ratcliffe and Mack Lemmon, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Vince Figliomeni, who had two and Daniel Mantenuto, Drake Board, Jordan DaSilva, Michael Laidley, and Nicholas Erb, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers' offense rang up 31 shots on Aurora's net.

Pickering was led by Chris Sekelyk, who had one goal and one assist. Sekelyk scored 18:39 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Aurora. Riley Devine picked up the assist. BJ Salerno also scored for Pickering. More assists for Pickering came via Cam Palmer, who had one.

Marcus Semiao rejected 29 shots on goal for the Tigers. Aurora incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Panthers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
