Huge game by Girduckis boosts Wellington over Mississauga, 8-2

Abbott Girduckis had four goals and two assists to lead the Wellington Dukes to an 8-2 victory over the Mississauga Chargers.

Girduckis' first goal came 1:09 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:48 into the first, at 17:00 into the first, and at 18:34 into the second.

Wellington forced Mississauga's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 38 shots and forcing 30 saves. Alex Lepore made 12 stops and Mitchell Heck made 18. The Dukes surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Wellington averages 3.4 goals per game.

Wellington also got points from Will Cook, who also tallied three goals and three assists. Wellington also got a goal from Ben Sokay as well. More assists for Wellington came via Joe McKeown, who had three, Marco Azzano, who had four, and Luc Brown, Jacob Panetta, Josh Supryka, and Jake Falcao, who each chipped in one.

The Chargers were helped by Joseph Molinaro, who registered one goal. Molinaro scored on the power play 12:10 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Wellington. Marco Mattina picked up the assist. Domenic Commisso also scored for Mississauga. In addition, Mississauga received assists from Phillip Chadder, Stefano Alonzi, and Steve Mariani, who contributed one each.

Daniel Potter recorded 24 saves for the Dukes. Wellington incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Mississauga incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
