Sekelyk's goals lift Pickering to 7-4 victory over Lindsay

Behind a great game by Chris Sekelyk, who had two goals, the Pickering Panthers defeated the Lindsay Muskies, 7-4.

Sekelyk scored on the power play at 15:41 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 19:53 into the first to make the score 2-1 Pickering.

Pickering's penalty kill excelled, as the Panthers gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Pickering was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Panthers surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Pickering forced Muskies' goalies to work all game long, getting 40 shots and forcing 33 saves. Boyd Diclemente made 21 stops and Brett Chandler made 12. The Panthers bested their season scoring average. Pickering averages 3.7 goals per game.

Pickering additionally got points from Doug Carter, who also finished with one goal and two assists and BJ Salerno, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Pickering included Aidan Parker, John Hudgin, and Justin Bennett, who each put in one. More assists for Pickering came via Cam Palmer, who had two, Riley Devine, who had three, and Kyler Challis, Mark Tenuta, and Tiger McDonald, who each chipped in one.

Lindsay forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Muskies had been averaging 18.0 minutes in penalties per game. Lindsay forced the Panthers goalie Austin Washkurak to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

The Muskies were helped by Logan DeNoble, who tallied one goal. DeNoble scored on the power play 8:48 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Pickering. Lindsay had taken the advantage when Pickering's Parker got sent off for high sticking. Austin Eastman picked up the assist. Lindsay also had goals scored by James Allen, John Macdonald, and Cameron Stajer, who scored one goal each. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Owen Barnett, Brandon Washer, and Jeff Wilson, who contributed one each.

The Panthers' Washkurak stopped 29 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Pickering registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. For the Panthers, Hudgin was ejected from the game. For the Muskies, Allen and Mackenzie Heber were ejected from the contest.
