Toronto Jr. Canadiens outlasts Buffalo, 3-2

The Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens and the Buffalo Jr. Sabres were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Toronto Jr. Canadiens made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Justin Maiolino's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Junior Canadiens were sparked by Maiolino, who registered one goal. Maiolino scored on the power play 3:41 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Toronto Jr. Canadiens. A tripping penalty on Collin Farrell had put Toronto Jr. Canadiens on the power play. Andrew Mullen provided the assist.

The Junior Canadiens stifled Buffalo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens additionally got points from Mullen, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Ryan MacSpadyen also scored for Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Other players who recorded assists for Toronto Jr. Canadiens were Michael Cuddemi, who had two and Luca Farrace, Kennedy Duguid, and Sal Filice, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Sabres were helped by David Baskerville, who racked up one goal. Baskerville scored 5:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Michael Bevilacqua assisted on the tally. Buffalo also got a goal from Wilson Vershay as well. More assists for Buffalo came via Chris Moses and Justin Cmunt, who contributed one each.

Nathan Colitto rejected 20 shots on goal for Toronto Jr. Canadiens. The Junior Canadiens incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Buffalo's Nate Skidmore stopped 23 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Jr. Sabres incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
