Georgetown outlasts Wellington, 6-4

The game between the Georgetown Raiders and the Wellington Dukes was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Georgetown emerged with a 6-4 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and John Adams secured the win for the Raiders with a goal in the third period.

Liam Clare had a great game for Georgetown, netting two goals. Clare's tallies came on the power play at 16:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown and on the power play 17:06 into the second to make the score 3-2 Wellington.

The Raiders forced Wellington goalie Daniel Potter to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. Georgetown outdid its season average for goals scored. The Raiders average 3.8 goals per game. Georgetown got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Georgetown additionally got points from Steve Hladin, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Georgetown also had goals scored by Jordan Brown and Brendan Jacome, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Eric Eustace, Francois Cote, and Josh Dickinson, who contributed one each and Gavin Shantz, Anthony Marra, and Richard Court, who each chipped in two.

The Dukes forced the Raiders' goaltenders to work all game long, totaling 40 shots and forcing 36 saves. Marc Williams made 18 stops and Jack LaFontaine made 18. Wellington's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. The Dukes could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Wellington was helped by Wes St Amand, who tallied one goal. St Amand scored 15:28 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Wellington. Griffin McCarty assisted on the tally. Wellington also got points from Joe McKeown, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Wellington included Brody Morris and Jacob Panetta, who each put in one. In addition, Wellington received assists from Will Cook, who had two and Jacob Hetherington and Jake Falcao, who contributed one each.

Georgetown incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Potter rejected 34 shots on goal for the Dukes. Wellington registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
