Stouffville blows out Pickering, 6-1

The Stouffville Spirit were firing on all cylinders against the Pickering Panthers, and when the final buzzer sounded Spirit emerged with a 6-1 win.

Stouffville was led by goalie Conor McCollum, who finished with 43 saves while allowing one goal. McCollum certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.9 entering the contest.

Spencer Roberts was all over the ice for the Spirit, as he registered two goals in the win. Roberts found the back of the net 15:18 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Stouffville and again while 2:02 into the third to make the score 3-0 Stouffville.

Stouffville forced Pickering's goalies to work all game long, ripping 39 shots and forcing 33 saves. Austin Washkurak made 18 stops and Eric Pitcher made 15. The Spirit's goal total was higher than their season average. Stouffville has scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Stouffville also had goals scored by Chad Burrows, who had two and Zach Roberts and Tyson Bruce, who each put in one. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Matthew Dunlop, Alex Gilmour, Brock Traill, Cameron Lintner, Michael Giacometti, and Nick Thomakos, who each chipped in one and Matthew Heffernan and Brodie Tutton, who contributed two each.

The Panthers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Pickering ended up below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Panthers were held below their usual level of production. Pickering averages 3.6 goals per game. The Panthers' offense rang up 44 shots on the Spirit's net.

Pickering also got a goal from Mark Tenuta as well. More assists for Pickering came via Doug Carter and Austin Ulett, who each chipped in one.

Stouffville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Pickering registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
