Huge game by Armour boosts Cobourg over Toronto Jr. Canadiens, 6-1

Behind a great game by Connor Armour, who had two goals and two assists, the Cobourg Cougars defeated the Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens, 6-1.

Armour scored at 17:22 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Cobourg and again while 7:59 into the third to make the score 5-0 Cobourg.

Cobourg's Tyler Lewis was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 26 saves and let only one puck past him. Lewis certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.39 entering the contest.

The Cougars' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Toronto Jr. Canadiens power plays. Toronto Jr. Canadiens was unable to stop Cobourg from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cougars eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Cobourg surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Cougars have scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Cobourg additionally got points from Connor Hogg, who also finished with one goal and three assists and Alex Riche, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cobourg also had goals scored by Riley Stillman and Matt Carroll, who each put in one. More assists for Cobourg came via Liam Grande, who had three and Ryan OGrady and Mitchell Gibson, who each chipped in one.

The Junior Canadiens were held below their usual level of production. Toronto Jr. Canadiens averages 3.5 goals per game.

Cobourg incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Nathan Colitto made 33 saves for the Junior Canadiens on 39 shots. Toronto Jr. Canadiens incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
