Georgetown beats Orangeville 3-0 as LaFontaine gains shutout

Jack LaFontaine made 35 saves to complete the shutout and led the Georgetown Raiders to a 3-0 win against the Orangeville Flyers.

Georgetown's penalty kill excelled, as the Raiders gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Georgetown was paced by Blake Jones, who grabbed one goal. Jones scored 18:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Georgetown.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:16 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Raiders' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. Georgetown surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Raiders stifled Orangeville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Georgetown's defensive play was more effective than usual against the Flyers. The Raiders gives up 2.1 goals on average per game. Georgetown kept Orangeville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Wyatt Pickrell made 33 saves on 36 shots.

Georgetown also got points from Anthony Marra, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Jack Jacome also scored for Georgetown. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Jake Clements and Gavin Shantz, who each chipped in one.

The Flyers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Orangeville averages 3.1 goals per game. The Flyers forced the Raiders goalie LaFontaine to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Georgetown registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. For the Raiders, Scott Emerson and Josh Dickinson were ejected from the contest. Orangeville ended with 24 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors. Team's Kosta Likourezos and Christopher Sciammarella were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
