Stouffville rips Orangeville, 5-2

The Stouffville Spirit were firing on all cylinders against the Orangeville Flyers, and when the final buzzer sounded Spirit emerged with a 5-2 win.

Orangeville's power play was ineffective against Stouffville's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Spirit forced the Flyers goalie Wyatt Pickrell to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Stouffville was helped by Christopher Brill-Morgan, who registered two goals. Brill-Morgan scored the first of his two goals at 19:12 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Stouffville. Matthew Heffernan assisted on the tally. Brill-Morgan's next tally made the score 4-1 Stouffville with 14:09 left in the third period. A hooking penalty on Darren Nesbitt had put the Spirit on the power play. Cameron Lintner provided the assist. Stouffville additionally got points from Heffernan, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Brodie Tutton also scored for Stouffville. More assists for Stouffville came via Matt Brassard and Spencer Roberts, who contributed one each.

Orangeville was helped by Ian Nichols, who had one goal. Nichols scored on the power play 12:02 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Stouffville. The Flyers had gotten the advantage when Stouffville's Michael Giacometti was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Ryan DaSilva assisted on the tally. Orangeville also got a goal from Ryan Anton as well. In addition, Orangeville received assists from Devon Gillham, who had one.

Aaron Taylor recorded 25 saves for the Spirit. Stouffville incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Spirit ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Heffernan was ejected from the game. Wyatt Pickrell made 28 saves for Orangeville on 32 shots. The Flyers incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
