Cobourg wins tough contest against Hamilton, 4-2Cobourg Community Centre Sat, Dec 20, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Cobourg Cougars and the Hamilton Red Wings was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Cobourg emerged with a 4-2 win. The Cougars gained the winning advantage on a goal by Ryan OGrady 17:58 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer. Connor Hogg had two goals to lead Cobourg to victory. Hogg scored at 1:41 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Hamilton and again while 19:34 into the third to make the score 4-2 Cobourg. The Cougars' penalty kill excelled, as Cobourg gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. The Cougars stifled Hamilton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cobourg kept the Red Wings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brayden Lachance made 32 saves on 36 shots. Cobourg additionally got points from Taylor Gauld, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Cobourg were Rylee McKinnon, who had one, Liam Grande, who had two, and Connor Armour, who had four. Hamilton was helped by Laine McKay, who had one goal and one assist. McKay scored 8:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hamilton. Josh LaFrance assisted on the tally. Hamilton also got points from Rylee St. Onge, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Tyler Lewis made 24 saves for the Cougars on 26 shots. Cobourg incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Red Wings incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. |
