McCollum, Stouffville blank North York, 4-0

The Stouffville Spirit used a sparkling performance by Conor McCollum to take down the North York Rangers, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Stouffville's 4-0 shutout victory.

Chad Burrows had two goals to lead the Spirit to victory. Burrows scored at 1:17 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Stouffville and again while 9:32 into the second to make the score 3-0 Stouffville.

Stouffville forced North York's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 41 shots and forcing 37 saves. Evgueni Makarski made 18 stops and Gianluca Baggetta made 19. The Spirit stifled the Rangers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Stouffville also got points from Nathan Hudgin, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Michael Giacometti also scored for Stouffville. More assists for Stouffville came via Brodie Tutton, who had three and Colton Sansom, Matthew Dunlop, and Brock Traill, who contributed one each.

North York's offense operated below its season average. The Rangers average 3.6 goals per game. North York's offense rang up 32 shots on Stouffville's net.

McCollum recorded 32 saves for the Spirit. Stouffville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Rangers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
