Oakville survives Wellington comeback, wins 5-4

The Oakville Blades came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Wellington Dukes, but did just enough to escape with a 5-4 victory.

Oakville led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Blades' Sean Kohler scored at 17:08 in the first period to put Oakville up 3-0.

Christian Rajic had a great game for the Blades, netting two goals. Rajic found the back of the net 8:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Oakville and again while 15:37 into the second to make the score 4-4.

Oakville kept Wellington's goalie busy throughout the game, and Olivier Lafreniere made 31 saves on 36 shots.

Oakville also got points from Kamil Tkaczuk, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Oakville also got a goal from Josh Kosack as well. In addition, Oakville received assists from Brandon Hughes, Paul Butler, Ryan Burns, Greg Campbell, and Ross Sloan, who contributed one each.

The Blades were unable to stop the Dukes from sending pucks towards the net, and Wellington eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

The Dukes were helped by Wes St Amand, who registered one goal. St Amand scored 3:44 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Oakville. Ben Sokay picked up the assist. Wellington also had goals scored by Andrew Coupland, Josh Supryka, and Brandon Kosik, who each put in one. More assists for Wellington came via Marco Azzano, who had two and Jacob Hetherington, Luc Brown, and Joe McKeown, who each chipped in one.

Daniel Mannella recorded 32 saves for Oakville. The Blades incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Wellington incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
