Lindsay rides Diclemente to victory over Pickering, 3-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Boyd Diclemente helped the Lindsay Muskies defeat the Pickering Panthers, 3-1.

Lindsay was paced by Brandon Washer, who registered one goal. Washer scored 16:59 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Lindsay. Matthew Marchese picked up the assist.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Lindsay also had goals scored by Michael Spataro and Jack Scanlan, who scored one goal each. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Joseph Vocino and Brock Spear, who each chipped in one.

Pickering's offense operated below its season average. The Panthers average 3.4 goals per game. Pickering could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Panthers were led by Daniel Butchart, who scored the team's only goal. Butchart scored on the power play 16:26 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Pickering. Pickering had gotten the advantage when the Muskies' Spataro was sent off for hooking. Doug Carter assisted on the tally.

Diclemente rejected 27 shots on goal for Lindsay. The Muskies incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Austin Washkurak made 20 saves for the Panthers on 22 shots. Pickering registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
