Armour's big game bests Mississauga in 10-1 Cobourg win

Connor Armour was all over the ice for the Cobourg Cougars, as he tallied two goals and four assists in Cobourg's 10-1 win over the Mississauga Chargers.

Armour found the back of the net 3:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg and again while on the power play 7:37 into the first to make the score 2-0 Cobourg.

Mississauga was stymied by the Cougars' netminder Stefano Durante, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. Durante certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.88 entering the contest.

Cobourg forced the Chargers' goalies to work all game long, getting 40 shots and forcing 30 saves. Mitchell Heck made 10 stops and Alex Lepore made 20. The Cougars excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Cobourg surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Cougars average 3.3 goals per game. The defensemen of Cobourg were also effective in Mississauga's zone, and came away with four goals. The Cougars' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Cobourg finished with 18 penalty minutes.

Cobourg additionally got points from Liam Grande, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Mitchell Gibson, who also had one goal and one assist, and Riley Stillman, who also racked up two goals and three assists. Cobourg also had goals scored by Rylee McKinnon, Ryan OGrady, Spencer Holt, and Alex Riche, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Cobourg were Sam Dunn, who had one and Jeffrey Gauld APM, Connor Hogg, and Taylor Gauld, who contributed two each.

The Chargers were held below their usual level of production. Mississauga averages 3.3 goals per game. The Chargers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Cougars registered three goals on eight power play opportunities.
