Kingston hangs on, beats Oakville 2-1

Josh Hicks gave the Kingston Voyageurs the lead in the first period, and the Oakville Blades was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-1.

A goal 17:27 into the first period by Hicks proved to be the game winner, and powered Kingston to the victory. Adam Brady assisted on the tally.

The Voyageurs were led by goalie Daniel Urbani, who finished with 37 saves while allowing one goal.

Kingston was led by Hicks, who finished with one goal.

The Voyageurs' offense operated below their season average. Kingston puts an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game.

Kingston also got points from Brady, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Kingston received assists from Alex Tonge, who had one.

Oakville could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Blades average 3.8 goals per game. The Voyageurs were unable to stop Oakville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blades eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Oakville was led by Max Lindsay, who scored the team's only goal. Lindsay scored on the power play 15:59 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Blades had taken the advantage when Kingston's Tonge got sent off for holding. Tanner Shaw picked up the assist.

The Voyageurs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Kingston, Matt Hoover was ejected from the game. Daniel Mannella recorded 24 saves for Oakville. The Blades incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Oakville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Greg Campbell was ejected from the game.
