Wellington rolls over Burlington, 7-2

The Burlington Cougars had trouble finding ways to stop the Wellington Dukes, which beat Cougars, 7-2.

Joe McKeown was all over the ice for Wellington, as he finished with two goals in the win. McKeown's tallies came at 10:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellington and short handed 11:51 into the second to make the score 4-0 Wellington.

The Dukes forced Burlington's goalies to work without much rest, getting 37 shots and forcing 30 saves. Joe Noonan made 24 stops and Cammeron Radford made six. Wellington found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Dukes average 3.2 goals per contest.

Wellington also got a goal from Marco Azzano as well. More assists for Wellington came via Will Cook, who had three, Taylor Welsh, Luc Brown, and Conner Judson, who contributed one each, and Andrew Coupland, Abbott Girduckis, and Griffin McCarty, who each chipped in two.

Welsh recorded 17 saves for Wellington. The Dukes totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Wellington ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brody Morris was ejected from the game. The Cougars totaled 33 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For Burlington, Matt Holmes was ejected from the game.
